Soroptimist International of Trinidad & Tobago
NA President Message
It is with pleasure that we thank our patron Her Excellency Dr Jean Ramjohn-Richards for formally launching the website of Soroptimist International of Trinidad & Tobago, today, Saturday June 23rd 2007 at our 47th Annual General Meeting.
Our National Association comprises four clubs. The mother club, SI Port of Spain was the first club to be chartered (1959) in the English speaking Caribbean. SI San Fernando followed shortly after in 1962, SI St Augustine in 1985 and SI Scarborough in 1996.

Throughout the years Soroptimists in Trinidad & Tobago have contributed significantly to the improvement of the lives of our citizens. The establishment of Shangri La, a Home for the Elderly by SI San Fernando in 1970, SI St Augustine’s continuous work with the Women’s Prison since their inception in 1985, SI Port of Spain’s Homework Centre and SI Scarborough’s Alzheimer’s Support Group are but a few examples of the wide range of ongoing projects undertaken by our clubs.
We have contributed significantly to the development of the organization in the Caribbean and, within recent years have had two of our members as Directors on the Board of Management of the Federation of Great Britain and Ireland to which we belong. We also continue to seek to improve our knowledge of Soroptimism through annual Development Days and to forge closer ties with one another through our annual Friendship Day.
In the coming months we will be producing a booklet on our Founders and Pioneers so that present and future Soroptimists will know those sisters who laboured in the Soroptimist vineyard in the past. We also look forward to welcoming our Federation President Hilary-Kay Young, our Programme Director Margaret Cook and our Federation Treasurer Patricia Carruthers to our shores in July of this year.
We welcome you to our website and invite you to visit us for updates on our clubs’ activities and projects.
Sandra Dieffenthaller
President
