Sandra joined SI San Fernando in 1990 and it is a decision she has not regretted.

She has taught Biology for the past 27 years, the first 20 of which were spent at a secondary school for boys. For the past seven years she has been doing private tuition at home as well as doing volunteer training of younger teachers at different schools.

Sandra says, “Teaching is my passion and Soroptimism my out-of-control hobby!” She is the Chairman/Manager of Shangri La, The Soroptimist Home for the Elderly. She served as Club Secretary, Club PAC Chairman, Convenor – Fundraising Committee, Club Representative – Caribbean Regional Council and Councillor for Trinidad & Tobago on the FEC. At present she is Director of Membership on the SIGBI Management Board.

Sandra is married with one daughter and enjoys exercising, travel and cooking. “I believe that the strength of our organisation lies in the strength of its membership both in terms of numbers and the calibre of women we attract and retain. My focus for the next two years is to have clubs re-energise in order to bring greater satisfaction and excitement to membership and thereby retain our members.”
