ABOUT SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL PORT OF SPAIN

Soroptimist International Port of Spain is the mother of Soroptimism in the Caribbean. It is a member of Soroptimist International which is a “worldwide organization for women in management and professions, working through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women.”

Chartered in 1959 to champion the causes of women and children in Trinidad and Tobago, this charitable organization has done phenomenal pioneering work. Some of the projects which are now part of the national fabric of Trinidad and Tobago include:

  • Women’s Suffrage Movement

  • The Child Welfare Act

  • The Home-Work Centre Project

  • Senior Activity Centres

  • Alzheimer Support Group
