Soroptimist International of St. Augustine
Holds its Annual AGM

SI St. Augustine held its 2008 – 2009 Annual General Meeting on Sunday May 4th 2008 at the home of its outgoing President Raj Bhaggan -Wegner. Following the meeting’s formal proceedings, the bright, sunny afternoon was enjoyed by all. A number of gift presentations were made in recognition of the performance of members in the year past. In addition, the Sisters present were invited to a sumptuous tea, by the hostess. The Sisters then benefited from the observations of the distinguished guest and Returning Officer for the elections, National President Sandra Dieffenthaller.

Mrs. Dieffenthaller expressed her sincere congratulations to the Club, for the professional manner in which the meeting was conducted.

She commended the Club among other things, for its:

- ability to acquire three new members in the past year and for having a wide category representation within the Club
- outstanding AGM report, prepared by Club Secretary Suzanne Roach; and for the details provided within both the Treasurer’s and Programme Action reports

She further challenged the Club, for the coming year, to increase its membership, and maintain the quality of individuals it has acquired thus far.

Special mention was made of the Club’s outstanding work at the Women’s Prison in Arouca, via its ‘Project Courage’, which was initiated just after the Club was chartered in 1985. The new initiatives of the Club, continue to touch the lives of many inmates and their families in a meaningful way.
